I’ve been with RAC since 2016 and never had to use them until now 20th July 2022 And they have got to be the worst company I have ever dealt with in logged my breakdown at 7:55 I keep calling them on the hour every hour to find out an update they kept saying someone will be with you shortly please bear with us so I did it gets to 1am the next day over 5 hours waiting so far to call them again for them to now tell me they can’t get anyone out to me until after 8am I’m stranded no where to go but sleep in my car why do I pay a premium for this ! I will not be renewing my membership later this year I’ve payed since 2016 what is the point of paying for a service you don’t get

Good service

I had to call RAC tonight as had a flat tyre . L31 area
My dad was an RAC patrol man many years ago . So I knew I would be well looked after . A very friendly patrol man named Mick came within the hour and fixed the puncture . I can’t thank RAC enough they have great efficient staff .

We were pressurised by the patrolman to pay £216 for a battery although he new that if the car was towed into a ford garage we would have had a battery fitted and changed free as the car was still in warranty he was more interested in running his ex colleague down who had lived by us for a number of
years,within 9 minutes of him going and me phoning him on the mobile he rang us on he had scrapped the battery! So we couldn't even get the old one back for ford's to test it and claim our money back out of pocket to the sum of £216 as surprise surprise the rac cannot do nothing about it so people out beware of the shady dealings of the rac

I had a broken exhaust, which needed either temporarily fixing, or a tow, to enable me to get to a garage. A safe temporary fix was made, which was great. The assessment was thorough, advice given that was helpful.

Absolute disgrace! Consistently lied to on the phone regarding time of arrival. Was told they where 1 min away, yet 30 mins later I’m still here.

At first I was told 1 hour wait, then extra 30 mins. 4 hours later, still no sign.

Avoid!

Really useless service. They made a mistake and didn’t log my call. Then they told me someone will be out in 1 hour. Then they said half an hour. Still waiting over 2 hours in the dark and no taxis, wondering how I will get home 20miles away. Hope to get home this side of midnight.

First I waited 9 hours for assistance.
Then they sent me a cab and would collect my motorbike later. Now the motorbike is with them for several days (almost a week now!), every time they keep postponing the delivery date.
I have to chase them for answers in long calls and I still don'thave my motorbike - RIDUCULOUS. And I thought that the 9 hours would be the worst part.
Hiring RAC assistance is a tota nightmare! They keep saying they will call me back a NEVER returned any of my calls. A part from that they want me to call their third party to sort it - this should be their responsability, not mine! The third party is even worst as the give a date and simply don't deliver it! Service is totally unacceptable!
Avoid this company!!

We unfortunately broke down on a very busy road, we went online to the Rac to help us out, we had a phone call within 10 minutes giving us a approximate time the engineer would be with us, and then 2 txt messages. Thank goodness for your engineer named Matt he is a asset to your company. He put us at ease and his customer service was 2nd to none. We had paid a local vauxhall garage recently to diagnose why the car kept cutting out we paid £133.00 to be told they couldn't find anything. Matt was straight onto to it and fully diagnosed and temporary corrected until we got to a garage who now knows what they have to do. Well done Matt.

Second callout was very helpful and knowledgeable and was able to fix the problem at the roadside as expected (it was only a small hole in an easily-accessible radiator hose). First didn't fix it but instead took me to a garage who also didn't fix it, this was probably partly due to the unusually hot weather.
